Community Vision
Through Community Giving
Quality of life is important to everyone.
A multitude of programs are designed to improve the quality of life of individuals with health problems. Still, many people are unaware that the wide range of health and safety programs would not be possible without community support. Gifts from the community help many programs reach full potential.

Building Tomorrow's Healthcare Today
Quality matters when healthcare is being delivered. Sanford Hospital Luverne and Sanford Clinic Luverne are committed to quality care, whether it is delivered in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
The hospital's advisory board believes building a new hospital and clinic offers the course of action that will best serve the citizens of the area, the health professionals who deliver care, and the economic promise of the area.
Here are some of the strengths the hospital and clinic are building on:
- Ten active family practice doctors and a general surgeon.
- 230 employees in the hospital and clinic.
- A payroll of $8.1 million dollars.
- Physician specialists who conduct 17 outreach clinics each month.
- An operating budget of approximately $15 million.
- The knowledge and resources of Sanford Health Network.
- Compassionate programs such as the Hospice Cottage for the terminally ill.
- Outreach to homes and businesses.
- Emergency services.
- Therapy and rehabilitation.
- Education for better health and more satisfying lifestyles.
The new hospital and clinic building site is north of Luverne, east of Highway 75, north of the Veterans Addition.
The option to renovate was studied and rejected because the cost ($13 million), disruption (five years), and result (still a land-locked site with inadequate access) were unsatisfactory.
The new hospital and clinic will be more than twice as large as the current facilities.
There will be 250 parking spaces and entrances near the services patients need: emergency, diagnostic imaging, patient rooms, rehabilitation, surgery, and the clinic. The facility will be patient-friendly.
Design throughout will emphasize privacy and confidentiality. Modern rooms will be large enough for the equipment used today and patients' visitors.
Above all, the design will emphasize efficiency for the staff. With greater efficiency, more time can be devoted to providing comfort and care. Cost savings will result as well.
The estimated total cost of the project is $17.8 million, including an inflation factor.
Sanford Regional Health has committed $13.3 million to the project.
The remaining funds will come from Luverne area public and private sources, including a capital campaign.
The Partnership Campaign, Building Tomorrow's Healthcare Today, sponsored and conducted by the Luverne Community Health Care Foundation, is seeking more than $1 million in support.
Pledges to The Partnership Campaign are for a five-year period. All donors will be honored for their contributions, unless they indicate otherwise. All gifts are deductible as charitable contributions and may be included in income tax filings to the extent allowed by law.
The Foundation will continue to offer opportunities to make gifts to The Partnership Campaign. Sanford Hospice Luverne
When doctors agree that modern medicine can no longer offer hope for a patient's medical recovery, Hospice stands ready to help. A regional Hospice cottage was planned, built, and geared for service with the help of gifts to the Sanford Hospital Luverne Health Care Foundation.
Today, the Luverne Hospice Cottage is seen as a sterling example of the power of community contribution. Gifts from the community make it possible for family members to spend quality time with terminally ill patients during the last weeks of their lives.
Rock County Community Pool
Until the Sanford Hospital Luverne Health Care Foundation responded, the lack of a wheelchair ramp made the Rock County Community Pool difficult, if not impossible, for the handicapped to access. With a gift from the foundation, a ramp has been added, and the pool is now accessible by everyone. Lifeline®
Lifeline ® allows people who are physically limited by age or handicap to notify the hospital when they have an emergency. Lifeline subscribers wear a device that can transmit a signal from all locations in their
homes. The Health Care Foundation
purchased the units, allowing the hospital
to offer the service at an affordable cost.
Children with disabilities
With proper therapy, autistic and handicapped children can make remarkable strides. The Sanford Hosptial Luverne Health Care Foundation funds music therapy for qualifying children in the community. The Foundation's support is a valuable part of the region's program of caring.
The Sanford Hospital Luverne
Medicare and many insurance plans pay the costs of a patient's care but do not pay for a patient's new equipment or new programs. New nebulizers, used to treat asthma patients, were purchased for the Sanford Hospital Luverne with a grant from the Sanford Hospital Luverne Health Care Foundation.
